The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (German Tech / CGTTI) is currently accepting applications for its 2026 intake of full-time courses.

Full-Time Technical Training Courses – 2026 Intake, run under the National Apprenticeship Scheme, are accepting applications from appropriately qualified male and female candidates. The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) – Moratuwa is part of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

  • Power Electrical Technician (Industrial)
  • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician
  • Automobile Technician
  • Millwright Technician
  • Industrial Mechatronics Technician
  • Machinist
  • Automobile Electrician
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Motor Vehicle Body Repairer & Painter
  • Welder

Qualifications Needed :

Age :

  • Applicants should be between 16 and 22 years of age as at 05 July 2026.

Academic Background :

  • Passed in 06 subjects at the London O/L Examination, including English language and Mathematics in one sitting.
  • Completed all six sections of the G.C.E. O/L Exam in a single sitting, including Mathematics and Sinhala/Tamil language (Medium);

Unique Set of Abilities :

  • The special abilities category is also open to applicants who have won technical and innovation competitions.

I am referring to candidates who :

  • Have received Merit Certificates or higher awards at national competitions conducted by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical fields.
  • Have obtained places at provincial-level competitions.

Instructional Medium :

  • Sinhala and Tamil medium versions of the vehicle technician course are both accessible.
  • Theoretical lectures are conducted in English.
  • All courses are conducted in Sinhala Medium.

Assessment Process :

Applicants who possess the required qualifications and have paid the prescribed examination fee will be eligible to sit for the admission test.

Examination Medium :

  • Sinhala / Tamil

Approach to Selection :

  • Final Selection – Final selection will be based on marks obtained from the aptitude test (40%), interview (50%) and the written examination (10%). Extra-curricular achievements will be given special consideration during the interview.
  • Aptitude Test & Interview – Candidates who obtain the highest marks in the written examination will be shortlisted for the aptitude test and interview.
  • Medical Examination – Selected candidates must pass a medical examination before admission.
