Applications for the First Efficiency Bar Examination 2026 for officers in the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS) are being accepted by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
Teachers working in national and provincial schools in Sri Lanka are expected to take the test in September 2026.
Qualifications: Initial EB Test
Teachers hired directly for the following positions are subject to the first Efficiency Bar Examination:
Class 3 Grade II Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS)
Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS) – Class 3 Grade I Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS) – Class 2 Grade II ⚠ Important: Only the First Efficiency Bar Examination is covered by the Gazette notification published on June 19, 2026. In the future, notices about the second and third Efficiency Bar Examinations will be published in the Gazette.

Applications must be filed online via the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka’s official website.
Exam Preparation and Curriculum
The pertinent curriculum will be made available on the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education’s official e-thaksalawa website since this is the first time these Efficiency Bar Examinations are being held.
It is recommended that candidates use the e-thaksalawa platform’s learning resources and syllabus to study on their own.
