Director – Tea Research Institute Job Vacancies 2026

Tea Research Institute (TRI) of Sri Lanka invites applications for the post of Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant Clerk, Driver. You can apply to it before closing date as per the following details. Closing date and other job details are given below.

Internal : 

• A degree in Science / Agriculture or Engineering with a two (02) years post graduate research degree, and PhD degree in relevant discipline AND three (03) years satisfactory service as
  Additional Director OR five (05) years satisfactory service as Deputy Director Research / Extension OR eight (08) years satisfactory service as a Head of Division /Principal Research
  Officer/Principal Advisory Officer of TRI.
• Proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams of research scientists. Experience in proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources will be an added
  qualification.
• A four (04) year special degree in Science/ Agriculture or Engineering with a second class division from a recognised University and a PhD degree in a relevant discipline AND threе
  (03) years satisfactory service as Additional Director OR five (05) years satisfactory service as Deputy Director Research / Extension OR eight (08) years satisfactory service as a Head of
  Division /Principal Research Officer / Principal Advisory Officer of TRI.

External :

• At least twenty (20) years of research experience at managerial level and management experience in a recognised Organisation, of which twelve (12) years should be after obtaining
  PhD degree and five (05) years at senior managerial level and with a proven track record.
• A four (04) year special degree in Science / Agriculture or Engineering with a first class or second class upper division from a recognised University and a PhD degree in a relevant
  discipline.
• Proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams of research scientists /extensionists. Experience in proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources will be an added qualification.

Job Description :

• Responsible for all the Research and Development activities, and Administrative & Financial affairs of the Institute and provide leadership and encouragement to the staff of the Institute.

Salary Scale :

• HM 2-3 (2025) Rs. 173,000 – 12 x 4,850 – Rs. 231,200 p. m (Basic Salary of Rs. 173,000/-will be paid from 01.01.2027. (The salary paid amount in 01.01.2026 is Rs. 150,325/- and unpaid
  amount is Rs. 22,675/-).

Age :

• Should not be less than 40 years and not more than 50 years. The upper age limit will not apply to the internal candidates.

Other Benefits :

• Provident Fund: The selected candidate will be required too contribute 10% of the salary to the Staff Provident Fund while the Institute will contribute 15%. The Institute will also contribute 3% to the Employees’ Trust fund.
