Chief Engineer – Peoples Bank Job Vacancies 2026

Peoples Bank invites applications for the post of Chief Engineer. You can apply to it before closing date as per the following details. Closing date and other job details are given below.

Experience :

• Experience of working in the Banking sector and high rise building construction shall be considered as an additional experience.
• Procurement knowledge
• Knowledge of procurement of works and consultancy services
• Government procurement methods and bidding procedures.
• Sound knowledge on computer software packages including Drafting (AutoCAD), Project Management.
• Experience in building construction field after completing the degree programme.
• Knowledge of Project planning and progress monitoring methods.
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering Specifications, Conditions of Contracts, Standard method of Measurements, Civil Engineering Designs and Interior works.
• Should possess minimum 12 years’ post-qualifying experience in designing and construction related to building projects including the following.

Age :

• Age should be below 48 years of age as at closing date of applications.

Qualifications :

• Project management studies is an additional qualification.
• Should be a fully qualified Chartered Engineer
• Should possess an MSc related to Construction Project Management from a University or a degree awarding Institute recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
• Should possess a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Civil Engineering (Full time Degree, not a top up degree) from a University or a degree awarding Institute recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
• Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka

Key responsibilities among others relevant to Chief Engineer are as follows :

• Adhere to rules and regulations imposed by the Bank from time to time.
• Any other official Duties and responsibilities entrusted by the Bank which is within the capability and / or expertise of the employee to perform.
• Preparation of memorandums for necessary approvals for major/ medium construction projects undertaken by the Bank.
• Coordination with project Consultants, Contractors, Local Authorities to achieve project targets.
• Checking Progress Bills of Contractors and Project Consultants and recommending for payments.
• Monitoring Construction Progress of ongoing projects
• Attending for bid evaluation committees (BEC) and procurement committees(PC)
• Checking bid Evaluation Reports
• Checking procurement documents/ Engineer’s estimates prepared by Project Consultants
• Attending to following tasks in major/ medium constructions and renovation projects undertaken by the Bank
• Taking measurement of completed works and recommend for payments.
• Tender Evaluation and Recommendation.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

The position of Chief Engineer in the non banking stream is equivalent to the grade of Chief Manager (Grade I) in main-banking stream in the Bank. The performance will be evaluated annually. The selected candidates should work beyond the regular working hours as and when required and should be willing to visit outstation construction sites to inspect and monitor the progress of the projects.
